Kaia's Triplets

welcome to the barn
Sweet Land Kaia (bred to first-time buck Capsand Creamery Walker - thank you Christine in Vermont!) delivered triplets her first kidding on May 12. We paid close attention to Kaia as her time approached.  She was huge, her udder full and she was wading around, but didn't seem to be dilating much. Her labor was slow and she needed some assistance with Iris's crown presentation. A veterinarian wasn't needed on the scene in the end, but it was a close call.  Poor Kaia was really tired out after delivering her triplets.  Thankfully, they were all born alive and healthy.  Through her labor, she was focused like a pro.  And her kids are sweeties - 2 doelings and 1 buckling.  Whew!
